Baldur Bjarnason

These horses were not particularly interested in me or my hiking shenanigans

Three Icelandic horses stand in a row, with one of them grazing. Behind them is a steaming geothermal and further behind there is a mountain

Breaking out the emergency kitten photos today, for obvious reasons. These are of my neighbours Grása (the grey and white one) and Loðmundur (the striped one) back when they were kittens. They are considerably fluffier as adults.

Grása climbs down a tree Grása, blurred, kills a tree branch Grása looking directly at the photographer Grása, the grey and white kitten, and Loðmundur, a striped kitten, enthusiastically climb a tree Grása inspects her surroundings with criticism and dignity Grása stands at the foot of a tree, inspecting the landscape Grása stands in the grass, paused mid-action, noticing something Loðmundur sits in the grass looking back. Loðmundur play fights with mama cat, Lukka, a black and white cat Loðmundur inspects his surroundings looking for something to hunt

Finally, the two siblings as adults

Grása, a fluffy grey and white cat, poses on a fence, looking at the photographer Loðmundur, even fluffier, sits on a fence while looking off to the side The two of them, Loðmundur on the left, Grása on the right, loaf on that same fence.

Turns out one of the houses in my street has free-roaming chickens. According to my dad, unless there are two households in Hveragerði with chickens, these probably belong to his physical therapist

A white chicken, surrounded by shrubbery, who is clearly very intent on going somewhere specific

At least the Icelandic landscape is reliably distracting despite all the bullshit going on in the world

A view down a lumpy hillside. In the distance we see the town Hveragerði and the steam plume of a geothermal well. The sun is ahead of us, causing the water in a stream and the insulated pipes to shine

Apparently Kolka, my sister’s black cat, basked in the sun so much this summer that her black fur bleached into a dark brown

Kolka, a black cat with a white medallion spot, lounges on her side looking very relaxed Kolka, relaxing on a sofa, looking up. Looking slightly brown. Kolka, stretching on a sofa.
