Some photos from where the stables are near town, and a few of the neighbourhood queen mouser.

A view of the stables at the root of a mountain. A small herd of horses grazing in a typical field This one was grazing all by itself A piece of rusted old farm equipment lying in a field.

This particular lives next door to me and is, apparently, very effective mouser.

The context is that Hveragerði is an agricultural town filled with commercial greenhouses and much of the housing stock is both old (for Iceland) and poorly built. Building codes were quite lax here for much of the 20th century. This combination means that mice are a genuine issue for many in town.

The queen mouser, a grey and white semi long-haired cat, lounges on the damp pavement The queen mouser looks ahead while lounging on the pavement. Now on the grass, she sits and inspects her surroundings.

I’ve occasionally posted on social media that I’ve decided against posting a cat picture because on zooming in I discovered that the cat was murdering a mouse and I don’t want to be posting pictures of that.

Well… the cat in question is always this one. I like to call her Queen Mouser.
