Web dev at the end of the world, from Hveragerði, Iceland

Photos (18 June 2024)

A few more photos this week than usual. Went out for a few more walks last week to make the most of the nice weather.

Hveragerði is the site of one of Iceland’s earliest reforestation projects, founded in 1950, and the results today is, in my very biased opinions, one of the nicest areas in Iceland.

Dandelions growing in the lava field A view of the mossy lava field that is now overgrown. A trio of young trees at the edge of the reforestation area. A winding path through the reforestation area That same parth, further along. Trees to one side and lupine on the other.

Ran into this neighbour during one of my walks.

A grey and white cat heads towards the photographer, looking up at him. That cat 'hunts' a walking stick.

My circle usually takes me past the cat shelter in Hveragerði, run by the organisation Villikettir Suðurlands. This time it only seems to have one inhabitant who I’m sure will find a home soon.

But, you can also occasionally see pretty sites just from my balcony.

A blackbird naps in a tree, head tucked under a wing. A black and white photo of the tree in my garden and the commercial greenhouse behind it.
